Successful professional living in luxury apartment seeking 'full-time' roommate/caretaker immediately. The Deal: Free room and board (meals) with private bedroom/bathroom in a 2BR/2BA apartment with free access to state of the art gym in exchange for caretaking. Read details carefully. Me: - I'm a 39 year old male recently diagnosed with ALS. I currently walk with a cane need help with meals, getting dressed, etc (refer below for detailed caretaking tasks). - I'm social, fun, like to be around people, etc. I used to be active with my career, international travel/living, and social life in NYC but am now more homebound due to my condition. - I'm very clean, organized, minimalistic, respectful, and low-key. You: - Ideal candidate would be low-key, reliable, and able to spend most of their time in the apartment. - Candidate needs to be caring and willing to perform the tasks below. - Taking online courses, working from home, etc is fine but students and part-time employees will NOT work. Candidate will obviously have time to do things outside of the apartment (gym, sightseeing, library, etc) but needs to be reasonable / reliable (assume 3 hours away per day on average). If you need to be out for a long period or all night once in a while, it is fine, you just need to plan ahead so we can find someone else to cover. - Foreigners are welcome if they have long-term visas in place (my current roommate I found online a few months ago is perfect - we've become good friends, but has to leave due to an unexpected visa issue). - Ability to speak fluent English is required. - Males or females. No couples. - No smokers, no pets. Caretaking Tasks: - Meal preparation - Cleaning apartment - Assisting with dressing, bathing, toileting, and other activities of daily living - Helping with attending Dr Appts once a week - Sorting medications - Ordering groceries online and unpacking them - Be around - refer to the "You" section above - No experience is required for the above tasks - can easily learn; although ability to learn quickly is a must. Apartment: - This apartment is a 2BR/2BA in a luxury building called Mercedes House / Instrata in Hell's Kitchen midtown NY (google it). - Tenant would have their own bedroom and bathroom. - There is a large private terrace overlooking the Hudson River. - Spacious apartment with gourmet kitchen (Viking stove/oven, Subzero fridge, etc). - Dishwasher, Washer/Dryer in unit. - Free state of the art gym included. - No lease, no deposit, but 1 year commitment is required.
